Presented by Cameo Cinema at Masonic Building

CHABOT SPACE & SCIENCE CENTER – Masonic Building

FREE Join us for three awesome space labs at the Masonic Building, 1331 Main Street, in St. Helena:

COSMIC RAY PLANETARY THEATER
Solar System Tour (25-30 minutes)
Shows at: 1:30 pm, 2:15 pm, 3:00 pm and 3:45 pm

Follow the path of the Voyager Spacecrafts in this Starlab! Launched in the late 1970’s, these twin spacecrafts sent back our first detailed images of the gas giant planets and their many interesting moons. The adventure starts on Earth with a brief exploration of the night sky. Next we follow the path of these heroic spacecraft to learn more about what makes each of our planet’s unique. (All ages)

Important note about tickets:  Because space is limited, we ask you to reserve tickets for your preferred time by clicking on the ‘ticket’ link. Five minutes before each show we will admit people to fill each show, even though they may not have reservations.

ASTRONAUT TRAINING | 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm | Walk-in | Free
Train to be an astronaut through a series of interactive activities that simulate the experience of surviving and working in space. Try on a pair of disorientation goggles, hop on a balance board to test your coordination, and use a robotic arm to collect potentially radioactive rocks! (All ages)

RED ROVER, RED ROVER, SEND YOUR KIDS OVER!
BUILD AND RACE MARS ROVERS| 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm | Free
Design and build your own ‘Mars Rover’ with Artist and filmmaker David Garden. We will supply all the goodies you need for this out-of-the-world art project. There will be racing! Join us at for either the 1:00 pm or 3:00 pm workshop.

Chabot Space & Science Center’s portable Starlab planetarium show and interactive stations are a free event and all ages are welcome. This Friends of the Cameo’s Science Weekend is made possible by a Grant from the City of St. Helena.

This program is a compliment to the Cameo Cinema’s 2019 National Week of Science on Screen, created by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Coolidge Corner Theatre.

From Wednesday, March 20, through Tuesday, March 26, 2019, the Cameo Cinema joins 26 Science on Screen theaters in 21 states, all art-house cinemas or museums with film programs, using one of the nation’s favorite pastimes—going to the movies—to promote public understanding of science.
